Token Electronics has introduced a non-inductive version of its standard KNP series,
leaded wirewound resistors.
The KNPN series offers the expected performance of a wirewound resistor with the added characteristic
of vastly improved inductance, making it suitable for high-switching applications.
The power of this non-inductive winding is available in standard KNP sizes from 0.5 watts up to 6 watts.
A non-inductively wound wirewound has one winding in one direction and one in the other direction;
known as Ayrton Perry winding, and a byproduct of this design is that it creates two resistors
in parallel in each device.
Because of this, non-inductive wirewounds have an upper resistance range limit of half the value
possible with a standard winding.
For ease of use, Token Electronics has listed a non-inductive resistance value range on its datasheets along with the standard range.
